Who are we?

The Garden Science Trust helps people develop their skills and potential through gardening and science. We work mainly with people with learning difficulties and other barriers to education and training.

What do we do?

We run courses to help students learn through experimentation, asking questions and practical participation. All courses cover basic horticultural know-how and help to develop independent living skills. We manage a supported volunteering programme and work experience placements at our organic garden site. We have just received funding from the Sobell Foundation to run 3 courses for adults with learning difficulties in Norfolk - our first open access course will be starting in March 2011. We still have copies of our DVD 'Superfoods explained' made by people with learning difficulties in partnership with Opening Doors (formerly People First of Norfolk) and the Institute of Food Research. Please contact the office for details.

Where are we?

We are based at the Ecotech Centre in Swaffham, Norfolk. We have the use of a large plot in the organic garden and our portacabin classroom.

What's New?

Our new Programme Director Lynne Dowdy started in January and is looking forward to building on the work done to date and new and exciting developments for 2011.
